Q. How can I easily
create data files for FOCUS when creating a new company in CounterPoint? Q. With what
versions of accounting software is ServicePoint compatible?
A. ServicePoint interfaces with CounterPoint
SQL (V8) by Radiant Systems, and
Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains accounting software (formerly
Dynamics).
The current version of ServicePoint for
CounterPoint SQL is compatible with CP SQL versions 8.2.9 and 8.3.2 through
8.3.7. Prior
versions of CP SQL are no longer supported. Through the use of CounterPoint's
flexible accounting interface, ServicePoint can create distributions to many top line
accounting systems.
ServicePoint for MBS Great
Plains is compatible with versions 7.5, 8.0, and 9.0 of the Great Plains product.

Q. Where can I get
some standard pre-defined FOCUS invoice formats?
A. A set of generic invoice and
work order formats are delivered along with each live FOCUS system. This
includes layouts for the standard Great Plains Classic/Synchronics preprinted invoice
forms. Great Plains Classic accounting system users can find the file in the top
level directory
of the GP Classic system. The file is in export (.EXP) format and can be
imported into FOCUS using the "svutil" file utilities. For CounterPoint systems, a
set of base formats is created automatically when initially installing the FOCUS software.
The predefined formats can also be downloaded from our website
download page, or download them now by clicking
here.

Q. With what
versions of accounting software is FOCUS compatible?
A. FOCUS runs with CounterPoint
by Radiant Systems, Passport
Business Solutions by Passport Software,
and Great Plains Classic accounting software.
Great Plains Classic (RealWorld) accounting versions 8.5 through 9.1 running
under Windows or UNIX can be used. The current version of FOCUS for
CounterPoint is compatible with CP version 7.3 or 7.5 (up through version
7.5.13), both Windows
and UNIX/Linux versions are supported. (Contact us if you are using Focus
version 8.1 with CounterPoint version 7.5.6 and later, and are transferring work orders to
POS as orders.) Through the use of CounterPoint's
flexible accounting interface, Focus can create distributions to many top line
accounting systems.
Focus is also available for use with the
Passport Business Solutions line of accounting software from Passport Software. Both versions 10.x and 11 are supported.
The latest version of Focus will run with Passport version 11.5

Q. Why don't
my customers show up in the service call search options?
A. It's possible that your
customers don't yet have records in the FOCUS search file. These records are
automatically created as service addresses are added to the system. When FOCUS
is installed into a system that has an existing customer base, however, these
customers have no search records.
The FOCUS file utilities can be used to build a new search file for all
customers in your system. Run the file utilities ("svutil" in GP Classic, on the
FOCUS menu in CounterPoint) and choose "Recreate service address lookup file".
This should fix the problem.

Q. How can I easily create data files for FOCUS when creating a new company in
CounterPoint?
A. Create the new company as you
normally would in CounterterPoint (File utilities, Special, Create new company).
Then, from the operating system prompt, in the top level directory of
CounterPoint, type "newfocus". This procedure will create the directory and
files needed by FOCUS in the new company.
